The roundabout editor
Add as many exits as you like, at exact positions, lined up with your roads.
The roundabout editor lets you place every entry and exit exactly, then builds the whole roundabout in one step.
Opening it
Use any of these:
- Edit → Roundabout editor…
- The Roundabout editor… button in the Roads panel's roundabout section
- The Inspector of a selected ring piece
Then click a ring. It can be a plain ring or one that already has entries.
Adding and moving entries
- Click the ring to add an entry. Add as many as you like.
- Drag an entry's dot to slide it round the ring.
- Drag the dot at the end of its arm to turn the arm, so it points along your road.
- Or type the values: each entry's angle and arm turn can be typed in the list, and the radius can be changed too.
- Each entry can have its own approach road type.
Line up with nearby roads
Line up with nearby roads adds an entry for every road that ends within 45 m of the ring, or moves the nearest entry to it. Each entry goes exactly where that road would meet the ring, with its arm along the road. It's the quickest way to fit a roundabout into an existing layout.
Preview and apply
- The ring, entries and arms are drawn live on the map. Anything too close turns red, with the reason.
- Delete removes the selected entry.
- Enter or Apply builds the roundabout and joins the roads to its entries, as one undo step.
- Esc cancels.
