Opening your first map

Open an existing OMSI map, or start a brand-new one, and save it as a project.

Open an existing map

  1. Start Wayline Studio and choose Open OMSI map.
  2. Pick the map's global.cfg inside your OMSI 2 maps folder.
  3. Big maps open in the background. The window stays responsive, and the scenery nearest the view appears first.
  4. Choose File → Save map project as… to create a project. Wayline keeps your changes in a workspace next to the .omproj file, so the original map isn't touched.

Start a new map

Choose New map on the welcome screen or in the File menu. A new map doesn't need a template or a global.cfg. It opens ready to edit, with its project kept under Documents\Wayline Studio\Projects.

Add or remove tiles as the map grows.

Put it on the real world (optional)

To trace real roads, place the map on the Earth and lay satellite pictures over its tiles. See Satellite imagery and real-world placement.

Tip

Save often with Ctrl+S. Undo (Ctrl+Z) and redo (Ctrl+Y) cover almost every edit, including whole roundabout rebuilds.
