Making your own road type

Build a road from lanes: bus lanes, cycle lanes, parking, pavements and more.

The road builder puts a road together from lanes, a bit like the Road Builder mod for Cities: Skylines II.

Building one

  1. In Roads, choose to make a new road type, or start from a template or any road in your installation.
  2. Add lanes and drag them into order:
  3. driving lanes each way,
  4. bus lanes and cycle lanes,
  5. parking lanes,
  6. pavements, medians, verges and shoulders.
  7. Set each lane's width and surface, and choose the line between each pair of lanes.
  8. Save it. Wayline writes it as a real OMSI spline profile with kerbs, AI lanes and markings, and you can build with it straight away, junctions included.

Changing it later

  • Open your road type again to change it everywhere it's built. Junctions and undo are handled too.
  • Or save it as a new type, or delete it once nothing uses it.
  • Bus lanes in your own road types keep cars out automatically.

Trees, lights and trams

  • Give lanes rows of trees, street lights or other objects, laid whenever the road is built.
  • Lay tram tracks in the street, shared with cars or on their own, running straight through junctions built in the editor.

Editing one stretch of road

Select a piece and use Select connected road to grab the stretch up to the next junction or free end. Edit selected road… then opens its lanes, widths, directions, surfaces and markings, and Save writes a separate type for just that stretch.
