Importing your own objects

Bring in an .x or .o3d model, or a complete OMSI object, from a zip.

Put your object in a .zip. In Objects, click Import your own object (.zip)…, then Choose the .zip….

Option 1: just a model

Put one or more .x or .o3d files in the zip, plus every texture they use (.bmp, .dds, .tga, .png or .jpg) with exactly the file names the model asks for. Wayline sorts them into model\ and texture\ folders and writes the .sco for you. Solid (ticked by default) adds a collision mesh, so buses can't drive through it.

Option 2: a complete OMSI object

Put a folder with a .sco and its model\ and texture\ folders in the zip, exactly as OMSI objects are shipped. Use this when the object needs its own settings, such as lights, animations, LODs or terrain holes.

Tips for modellers

  • 1 unit = 1 metre, and the ground is at height 0.
  • The origin is the point you place and turn around. For fences and walls, put it at one end.
  • Use power-of-two texture sizes (256, 512, 1024…).

Objects are copied to Sceneryobjects\Mapforge\<project>\Imported\<name>\. Nothing already there is overwritten.

Rights

Only import models you made yourself or have permission to use and share.
